![]() ![]() Also, different camera manufactures design their tapes to work best with there cams on a chemical basis,so its never a good idea to mix different tape manufactures, just stick with one kind of tape. Also, buy a good 1394 firewire cable as the camera doesn't ship with one(the ones that do usually give you a crappy one anyway) Id stick with JVC tapes for this cam as I hear there may be a problem with certain other tape manufactures, all ways do your research before buying bulk tapes. Luckily steady cam systems are cheap to build if your good with instructions and a calculator. The on board digital image stabilizer works for the most part,but if you're the type to drink and film or just have really unstable hands like me, you are gonna need a tripod or steady cam. At a cost of $15 to $40 bucks you can set up a pretty professional light system fairly cheap. I suggest using those powerful construction lights you can find at most hardware superstores. One thing about the GR-DA30U is that you need lots of light, don't worry about there not being an on-board light or hot shoe, those things don't work to well to begin with. I've been using this mini dv cam for about a month now, so far so good.
